Krampus: The Reckoning (2015)

Krampus the Reckoning

A feat of bad acting and worse plot, Krampus: The Reckoning is just plain awful.

This is not a sequel to Krampus and is only a comedy because of the poor production.

Zoe is a ward of the state and lives with her foster parents who are bad people. They are visited by the Krampus and killed. Zoe has a doll of the Krampus and uses it to visit vengeance on them.

Krampus (2015)

KrampusKrampus is a horror comedy that’s short on comedy and longer on horror.

Krampus is a demon that preys on those who no longer believe in Christmas.

When Beth disappears, her father and uncle go looking for her. They find devastation. At home, Howie is taken and it’s up to the two families to find him and survive Christmas in the shadow of Krampus.

I’m not having good luck with RedBox rentals, this was just an OK film.

Stargate Atlantis Rising (2004)

Stargate Atlantis Rising

A team of scientists go to the far-off city of Atlantis only to find that the race that defeated the Ancients is still in the Pegasus galaxy and is causing them trouble.

The trip to Atlantis is a one-way deal so they have to find a way to survive the threat and hopefully triumph.

This is the pilot to a new Stargate series and gets the new franchise off to a great start.

Amazon Score 4.4/5

Looper (2012)

Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a Looper, a paid assassin of people from the future. When he is assigned to “close the loop” (kill his future self), something goes wrong and future Joe (Bruce Willis) escapes. Now it is a race against time as future Joe looks to kill the present boy who becomes a mob kingpin before he can reek havoc in the future.

This is a shoot-em-up good time.  It is a little slow at first but picks up speed.

Stargate (1994)

A down-on-his-luck doctor of anthropology, Daniel Jackson, is hired to translate some Egyptian hieroglyphs for the Air Force. Little did he know he was discovering the address to a world on the other end of the galaxy, reachable by Stargate.

This is a great movie. I don’t much care for French Stewart in the movie, but the rest of the cast is stellar.

IMDB Score 7.0/10

Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977)

Of the seven movies currently, Episode IV is the best.

In A New Hope, we meet Luke Skywalker, a budding Jedi, Princess Leia, Hans Solo, Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The princess is captured by the Empire and it is up to the rest to rescue her, bring the plans to the rebels and win the day.

IMDB Score 8.7/10
Amazon Score 4.0/5

Merlin (2008)

Merlin is the story of young Merlin and young Arthur.

In a Camelot where magic is outlawed, Merlin must keep his secret, using magic sparingly and in secret.

I really like this series, the characters are good and the acting is seamless.

IMDB Score 7.9/10
